Job Description

ORBIS is seeking an experienced Sr. Operations Manager to work on site in McLean, VA.

General Responsibilities

GROW: Act as the operational and cultural anchor for our McLean headquarters, fostering a people-first, solutions-oriented environment that supports firmwide employee retention, growth, and cohesion.

MANAGE: Oversee day-to-day headquarters operations, supervising the Office Manager, coordinating logistics, and ensuring a seamless on-site experience for staff and visitors.

CONNECT: Serve as the primary in-office representative for Capabilities leadership—driving internal communications, feeding back on-site developments, and translating strategic intent into actionable plans that help the Capabilities Division and the ORBIS Senior Executive Leadership better engage and support our teammates.

EVOLVE: Champion a mission-driven, inclusive culture through morale-building activities, team-building events, and by modeling agility, innovation, and operational excellence.

Specific Duties

GROW

  • Foster a people-first, solutions-oriented environment that supports firmwide employee retention, growth, and cohesion.
  • Build and maintain strong alignment between distributed leadership and on-site teams.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that optimize office workflows and team engagement.

MANAGE

  • Maintain full situational awareness of firmwide strategic initiatives, ongoing operation needs, and Capabilities Division activities—tracking projects, product roadmaps, marketing campaigns, and deadlines.
  • Supervise and mentor the Office Manager; troubleshoot facilities issues; cover front-desk duties when needed.

CONNECT

  • Organize and lead weekly operational syncs, status reviews, and cross-functional planning sessions.
  • Ensure information flows across product, delivery, marketing, and executive stakeholders, drive follow-up on action items.

EVOLVE

  • Initiate and support events, activities, team building, and rituals that facilitate inter-team and intra-team connections. Facilitate a strategy of virtual activities that integrate remote and on-site staff into a unified team.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Experience: 7+ years in internal operations, cross-functional coordination, or executive support; proven track record driving complex projects to completion.
  • Leadership & Soft Skills: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; high emotional intelligence; ability to influence without formal authority.
  • Operational Acumen: Strong organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities; proactive in identifying and resolving inefficiencies.

Security Clearance

  • Not required to start; eligibility preferred (current/prior clearances are a plus).

Travel

Minimal (<10%), primarily to support off-site meetings or client events.

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Monday.com, Slack, Confluence (or similar).
  • Background in consulting, national security/defense, government services, or high-growth tech.
  • Experience supporting senior executives in a hybrid/remote environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Routine video conference and/or in-person meetings.
