Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Analyst for our Economic Development & Incentives Practice Group who will provide strategic research, analysis, and interpretation that supports key economic development strategies and initiatives for current and potential clients. The Practice Group advises businesses looking to establish, expand, consolidate, or relocate; developers planning their next big project; or municipalities seeking to attract such businesses and developers. Reporting to the Managing Partner and the Head Partner of the Economic and Incentives Practice Group, the ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional experience and knowledge with discerning potential outcomes of economic or financial decisions made by corporate executives or government legislators.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Model economic impacts of development projects and M&A transactions in Microsoft Excel and IMPLAN.
  • Draft reports on the fiscal and economic impacts of client projects to assist clients in obtaining non-traditional financing.
  • Prepare financial models and financial presentations.
  • Collaborate with attorneys in structuring public finance instruments to meet key objectives.
  • Draft and model proposed terms for term sheets and other official incentives documents for attorney review.
  • Create new models of incentives programs to quantify economic and financial impacts.
  • Stay updated on public finance trends and regulatory changes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Finance, Public Administration, Urban Planning, Environmental Studies or equivalent. A Master’s Degree in these areas would be a plus but not required.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of financial modeling experience for a boutique investment bank, accounting firm, real estate investment firm, economic development consulting company, or public services agency.
  • Demonstrated history of accomplishment in economics (either in academia or business), including the completion of significant academic papers incorporating modern analytical techniques.
  • Familiarity with analyzing data and basic data science techniques.
  • Fluency with federal, state, and local tax incentives applicable to real estate development projects.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate closely with attorneys on Microsoft Excel models and economic reports.
  • Ability to articulate the application of business, finance and economic concepts clearly in writing.
  • Familiarity with input-output economic impact models and real estate databases is a plus.
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS Pro is a plus.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to manage and protect confidential documents.
  • Understanding of broad tax law concepts in business strategy contexts.
  • Appetite for research and interest in real estate (including in Northeast Ohio).
