Job Summary:
The Payroll Manager is responsible for payroll processing and administration of the Human Resource Information System (HRIS) ensuring data integrity, accurate processing and reporting of payroll and benefits. The Manager will be responsible for performing and overseeing various Payroll Department tasks including onboarding, off-boarding, payroll processing, benefit tracking/reconciliation, and other administrative duties.
Experience and attributes:
5+ years of payroll experience and 2+ years of supervisory experience required. Experience must include payroll processing, managing benefits, and HRIS administration. Individuals should have strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to be a team player and leader.
Responsibilities:
• Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential
• Manage weekly and biweekly time and other pay approval and payroll processing (approximately 1,000 employees)
• Ensure accurate system information and processing
• Validate accurate outsourced tax filings
• Maintain Health and Welfare plan books and records
• Benefit plan compliance including annual audits and other reporting
• Record and reconcile Kronos WFR payroll to Sage 300CRE system
• Ensure timely payments to vendors (benefit providers, garnishment recipients, etc.) and contractors
• Confirms accuracy and maintains integrity of all data in various systems, including Kronos Workforce Ready and employee benefit carrier sites
• Acts as a subject matter expert to train employees and managers in the deployment of new system functionality and workflow enhancements
• Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals, payroll best practices, thorough knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to payroll
• Continually evaluates own processes and procedures, developing recommended solutions
• Assist with audit and other assigned duties within the Accounting and Payroll Department
Requirements
• Ability to demonstrate close attention to detail
• Ability to understand relational databases and structure in order to ensure system accuracy and integrity
• Strong understanding of payroll and HR processes, practices, regulations, and laws
• Proficient in MS Office with strong knowledge of and experience in Excel
• Experience with HRIS/Payroll software Kronos Workforce Ready or other comparable software package
• Certified Payroll Professional or equivalent certification/designation
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
