POSITION SUMMARYThe Assistant Administrator is accountable for assisting the Administrator with management, control and operation of the nursing home campus and sets the tone to ensure a home-like atmosphere. The Assistant Administrator assists operating the nursing home in a manner that is an effective and efficient use of its resources to realize the goal of attaining and maintaining the highest practicable physical, mental and psychosocial well-being of each resident. Responsibilities of the Assistant Administrator include ensuring quality resident care through compliance with all federal, state and local laws as well as retaining highly trained, happy and motivated staff. Assistant Administrators are charged with creating, demonstrating and setting expectations for a culture of collaboration, compassion and customer service that will strongly encourage staff to self-report areas of improvement and ensure residents’ rights are protected.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIESRESIDENT CARE AND SUPPORTAssistant Administrators assist managing and operating the campus under the oversight of the Administrator in a way that promotes meeting the individual needs and preferences (INP) of residents and that care received is resident-centered by ensuring:
· Plans of Care are drafted, implemented and maintained for every resident, based upon their INP
· Residents and their support network are regularly informed of their care, condition, and treatment
· Doctors’ orders are strictly followed, and policies and procedures are in place to assure compliance
· Recreation, events and programs are resident-centered and designed to meet INP
· Services from qualified vendors are available to meet the needs of residents
STAFFUnder the guidance of the Administrator the Assistant Administrator assists with creating a culture of high employee satisfaction and competence through:
· Ensures recruitment, selection and orientation procedures are consistently practiced
FINANCEAssistant Administrator assists with actively tracking financial operations of the facility ensuring fiscal soundness and supporting sustained success through:
ENVIRONMENTAssistant Administrator assists with ensuring the facility’s physical environment complies with federal, state and local laws through:
· HIPAA compliant technology infrastructure and safeguards
MANAGEMENT AND LEADERSHIPAssistant Administrators will assist with ensuring the efficient and compliant operation of the facility through:
QUALIFICATIONSEducation and Experience· Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration or related field
Preferred· Experience in both skilled nursing and assisted living communities
Required Skills and Abilities· Very high level of professionalism
· Compassionate leadership qualities
· Strong critical thinking skills and adaptability
· Personability; ability to get along with all personality types and inspire trust with residents, staff, family
· High emotional intelligence (EQ)
· Ability to clearly speak and proficiently write, read and understand English
· Ability to travel as needed; may include overnight stays
